ok but not a classic game,
This review is from: The Last Of Us (PS3) (Video Game)
This is a typical Naughty dog production - technically stunning, but lacking new ideas or even particularly gripping implementation of old ones. The gameplay is repetitive and consists of either bludgeoning enemies or shooting them ( the stealth approach rarely works),and after 8 hours of playing I've seen only one setpiece (nicked from Deadspace 2) that varied the action. Beyond that there's massively limited "puzzles" and simplistic crafting of weapons - i.e ND's typical nowhere-near-as-smart-as-it-could-be schtick.
I've not yet finished the game - maybe it gets better, if so isn't it still fair criticism that the 8 hrs I have played are somewhat underwhelming? If this wasn't a ps3 exclusive I seriously doubt it would score so highly, and it feels like Naughty dog could do so much more with it without putting off those who've raved about the game. A bit more depth and some variety would make it more appealing - perhaps the sequel will be less shallow?

halflife 2 - a genuine classic that's never been bettered within it's genre.
