2.0 out of 5 stars US region free Blu ray release is better., 28 Feb. 2013
By
This review is from: Swithcblade Romance [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
Im not going into the details about the film this is some advice about a better Blu ray version available. The US region free blu ray has better picture and sound quality and has extras, the UK one has NO extras.

The picture quality on the UK one is not very good and it stutters a few times throughout the film. The US version also includes a dubbed soundtrack as well as the original French language soundtrack with subtitles. The French soundtrack with subs is the best option, but the dubbed soundtrack is good for watching it with people who don't like reading subtitles.

If you want better picture and sound quality and extra features then the US region free version is the one to get. Its not called Switchblade Romance in the US, its called High Tension and you can buy it from Amazon marketplace sellers, just remember to type in High Tension when you search for it.

That's a nice info.

Unfortunately, I read that the UK-blu-ray is the only edition where there's no censorship during the movie. It' not about cut or uncut, but the Jack Daniels bottle is censored, meaning, the label is replaced with a plain brown one - as far as I could see on the screenshots.

Well, at least the US-dvd and the austrian blu-ray are censored. So I guess they took the same master for the US-blu-ray as well.

So, together with your info about the UK-blu-ray having a poor picture quality, I'm at the point of buying no blu-ray edition of High Tension at all and stick to the dvd edition I already have - that one is untouched regarding the censorship and of course uncut.

Benson says:
Buy it! The picture quality is good, but the US Blu-ray is just slightly better. I have updated my player since I last watched the UK Blu, and it does not stutter anymore, so the update must of fixed that. The DTS HD Master Audio 5.1 is very good too!

Also the UK Blu ray has the correct subtitles, the US Blu ray has dubtitles.
