Ms Tsukiori has produced 23 garments designs using 6 basic patterns - 1) French sleeves 2 )No darts 3) straight cut 4) pants and playsuit 5) raglan sleeves 6) with darts.
Each pattern includes a number of variations. The patterns range from a very simple tie back tunic with French sleeves to flared pants and playsuit with or without straps. The `basics' instructions include how to mark up pattern pieces, how to make 3 fold and double fold hems and how to make and use bias binding. The book includes paper patterns for the six basic designs. These patterns are well marked so I would suggest transferring them onto vellum so that you can make your own alterations and keep the patterns with the book pristine.
The sewing instructions are simply explained and contain detailed diagrams and photographs of the finished articles. The designs are very Japanese but simple and fun to make. I think this book would suit a beginner with basic skills and knowledge or the advanced dressmaker who is able to amend patterns to fit larger sizes. For some reason a recipe for cupcakes has been included in the book - probably to support the book title
The only downside I found was the sizing of the patterns, they range from XS - Bust 30¾ (78cm); S- Bust 325/8 (83cm); M - Bust 34¾ (88cm) and L- 365/8 (93cm)
