3.0 out of 5 stars Mac Air fails to recognise device through in-built ports, 10 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter in White (Electronics)
Running a Macbook Air (mid 2013) and the device is only recognised when it's plugged in through the USB2.0 port on my wired keyboard, or the USB2.0 port built into my Cinema Display.

No activity whatsoever when plugged directly into either of the Mac Air's built in USB3.0.

Various drivers tried, numerous restarts with the device plugged in or without on boot.

It works on USB2.0, so I'm not too bothered, but still it's not quite as advertised, if you only have 3.0 ports, I'd be wary.

Oh I wish I'd read this review (only read the first page of reviews when ordering). Having the exact same issues with the MacBook Air - used a disk drive to install the software (you would think in this day and age they would direct you to a weblink rather than send a clunky disk). The thing is as dead as a doornail. Will be returning. What a hassle. Wish they would advertise that it simply doesn't work when directly plugged into a MacBook Air.
