A real next gen FPS!,
This review is from: Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3) (Video Game)
I can't actually remember when I picked this game up but it has been sitting in my collection for quite some time while I played other more fashionable FPS such as Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, etc. What a mistake that was, as I played the aforementioned titles I had the same empty feeling of seen it all before and just general boredom, B:BC 1 has none of that and instantly restored my faith in the army based FPS.
From the first minute of the game to the very last second you actually find yourself caring about the characters as they battle through, not in an overly emotional oscar winning type of way but more that the storyline doesn't rely on any twists or turns or over complicated plot in order to achieve plaudits. A good well written storyline with genuine banter between the members of the squad in the cut scenes keep the story moving nicely.
I guess the major differences between this and other FPS are the ability to jump into a variety of vehicles and the destructible environment. The destructible environment for me reached its pinnacle when a pesky sniper was taking pot shots at me and after multiple attempts I realised I just was not going to be able to hit him with my machine gun so I got out the heavy artillery and brought the house down .. literally!
With most titles there are negatives if you look hard enough for them and the only ones I could find with Bad Company were the repetitive comments of your squad during running battles, your squad can sometimes act a bit strange in terms of attacking or not attacking the enemy as the case was and finally on a couple of occasions I noticed some graphic anomalies such as floating rocks etc.
If you have not got this title in your collection and you are a fan of FPS then you should quickly order this and get started on one of the better games to be released on the PS3.
Next up battlefield 2 heres hoping its not a letdown after the first game!
