Thank you Bridget St John for this album, which like the two previous ones contains some of the most beautiful songs ever written. It is more complex in nature than her first two, but also the distinctive emotion of Bridget is there for all to experience in all its glory. "Ask me no Questions", her first album, was centred on the English countryside with lovely descriptions of the natural world, interspersed with romantic love songs. Her second "Songs for the Gentleman" was similar but with more emphasis on the romance. This one consists almost entirely of love songs, some self penned, some cover versions-including one of Bob Dylan's "Love Minus Zero, No Limit". Also there are several bonus tracks, including some taken from a live concert she gave in France in 1972, a real treat! Bridget moved to New York in the mid-70's and in my opinion lost a lot of the inspiration gained from her English roots, but still wrote some nice songs which appear on her album "Take the Fifth". This album may have lost some of the purity of the previous two, but it is still worth five stars.
