This review is from: The Man Who Wasn't There [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a beautiful movie, done in film-noir style. The main character could've been played by Bogart, but Billy Bob Thornton does it briliantly and should have got every best actor award that year. Great actors, AMAZING photography, wonderful and witty script and in the whole, a piece of art.
BUT- it's a Coen film, that means IT'S NOT FOR EVERYBODY. If you think it goes anywhere near Lebowski or Fargo, be careful. The Coens do what they're best at- surprising their faithful fans making a film which is totally different from the last one. If you haven't seen anything by the Coens, you may love "The man...", but you may also find it slow or just weird. You have to see it with an open mind, as it's full of the acid situations common to all the Coens' filmography. Action-packed films lovers, this is not for you. But if you like films tht are different from the usual blockbusters you'll love this one.
By the way, the extras are a little poor, with just one cut-scene worth watching and a TV-filler making-of. buy it for the quality of image, especially if you like Black and White photos.
