Blondie for Dinner,
This review is from: Eat To The Beat (Audio CD)
Eat to the Beat, is such a power pop album, it amazes me it didn't sell as well as "Parallel Lines". Although the album was a British #1 in 1979. Eat to the Beat is a strong album of Lyrical content and some of the best music scores ever put to Vinyl. Tracks like "Dreaming", "Atomic" and "Shayla" are simply outstanding rock classics. There was 4 single releases off "Eat to the Beat" in 1979-80. "Atomic" #1UK, "Union City Blue" #12 UK, "Dreaming" #2 UK and "The Hardest Part" #84 US. The album was made into a full length video in 1979, the first artist ever to do this. Blondie was most definately an Innovative and Original band. Deborah Harry's vocals on "Dreaming" and "Atomic" are sexy and simply brilliant. Deborah seems vulnerable and child like on songs like "Shayla" and "Union City Blue". Stand out tracks are definately "Atomic", "Dreaming", "Shayla" and the incredible funky "The Hardest Part". Without a doubt, this is a consumers buy, full of hits and great album tracks.
