A good read,
This review is from: The Gay Gospels: Good News for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered People (Paperback)
Keith Sharpe's passion for LGBT Christian identity comes out in his work "The Gay Gospels". He covers not only the Gospels but the whole Bible, and other material as well, like the Gospel of St. Thomas. His approach is like the good professor .... "This is what I am going to teach you ...... This is what you should know ...... This is what you should have learnt". This is an uncomplicated easy read. For would-be scholars of this subject the Bibliography is worth the price of the book!
At 200 pages Keith makes suggestions and statements that are tantalising, but are not substantiated. Perhaps that is the price of trying to cram everything into this short book. Some may find the treatment of Jesus's relationship to family a bit of a shock. There is very little reference to the writings of early Church Fathers or to tradition.
This book can be a great help to those belonging to the LGBT community trying to come to terms with their Christian identity. Big churches are like big ships; they take a long time to turn around. This book will help the reader to be less rigid.
