THE POORLY RESEARCHED BOOK OF FOOTBALL,
This review is from: The Bumper Book of Football (Hardcover)
I LOST ALL INTEREST IN THIS BOOK WHEN I CAME TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS CLAIMED THAT EVERTON & LIVERPOOL SHARED ANFIELD UNTIL 1892!
Just to clarify for anybody unable to comprehend the original review : Everton did not start life at Anfield, having previously played at a number of locations in the area such as Priory Road & Stanley Park (roughly at the site of Liverpool's proposed new stadium). However, they did play at Anfield for a few seasons, winning the League Title there in 1890/91, before moving across the park to Mere Green Field where they built Goodison Park in 1892. A new club, Liverpool, emerged as the new team at the vacant ground. The sequential nature of events rather precludes the possibility of the two clubs sharing the Anfield ground prior to 1892 - hence my original comment, above.
