Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Life After Life (Paperback)
This is a fascinating read about the near death experience. It is written in a clear way and is suitably scientific as to be credible yet not full of jargon to bog down the general reader. It leaves you contemplating your own mortality, in a positive way, and helps you on your path to leading a richer, fuller life now. It can be read by any religious denomination and will make enlightening reading for many.

Mr. N. J. Houchin says:
I've not yet read the book but anyone with an interested in this subject should take a look at the research done by Dr. James Winnery's when conducting experiments for the US Army & Navy on fighter pilots using a centrifuge machine to replicate the high G-forces fighter pilots are subjected too, it has interesting implications for this subject. It seems that there is a persuasive non-superstitious explanation for 'near death experiences', that is that they are most likely caused by hypoxia (oxygen deprivation to the brain). Dr Winnery was able to reliably re-create them, it seems that the high G-forces created by a centrifuge machine pull blood carrying oxygen away from the brain and can cause all the classic 'NDE' symptoms. As can some forms of extreme physical exertion and some types of deep meditation, some drugs and electrical stimulation to certain parts of the brain.
