This review is from: Hello Kitty 7 inch Capacitive Touch LCD Tablet (ARM Cortex A8 1.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 4GB Memory, Android 4.0) (Personal Computers)
I bought this back in November for my daughter who is 8. I have an ipad and she wanted a tablet of her own and chose this as she's a huge Hello Kitty fan. It arrived after about a week or so and that seemed like forever at the time as she asked me every 5 minutes if it had arrived yet. The packaging wasn't great, just the box in a small plastic wallet however luckily it arrived undamaged. It was incredibly cute to look at but aside from that, it was all downhill from there.
The quick start guide was decidedly not quick. It covered the basics of how to turn it on, how to charge, etc but after that, it all came down to guesswork on how to get it set up and working. When you turn it on, there's a cute little kitty background with a handful of shortcuts on the desktop. If you swipe your finger, you get the same screen but with shortcuts for different languages but as they are only icons, it's not intuitively clear. We swiped through half a dozen before we realised what the heck was going on and started deleting the ones that weren't relevant to us.
Next came the wifi challenge. Luckily neither hubby nor I are technically challenged and between the pair of us, we managed to get the wifi connected after about 30 minutes of faffing. However, it was soooo slow.
Then came the how the heck do I add apps challenge. It makes you download apps from the amazon store however if you haven't set up One-Click purchases on your amazon account, it will just give you error after error when trying to connect to the shop, none of which tells you what's wrong. It took 5 hours to work that issue out. After that drama, it took another few hours to download a few apps for my daughter to use the following day (as this all took so long she'd already gone to bed by this point).
The next day, my darling daughter finally got her excited little hands on her new tablet. However, of the apps we'd downloaded, only 2 of the 5 apps worked. Those that didn't gave some error about core processing. My daughter put on a brave face and played the two working games for the next few days. Sadly, after the second week of being unable to run any new games, she stopped bothering.
Being the loving parent that I am, I spent a week trying to find some new apps that worked and I did manage to find some that were compatible, granted, they all ran slower than my nan on Bingo day. After another week, nothing ran on it. My daughter then told me that she loved me and didn't want to hurt my feelings but could I please send it back. I was relieved.
It only took 6 weeks and 5 emails to get a refund but the seller was perfectly nice about the whole thing. Glad to be rid of the thing though. 2 Stars for the seller. None for the cute little kitty though.
