This book should be required reading for all those planning to go to any Arabian country to work . There are many lessons to be gained from its pages !
The book starts off as a story full of humour but gradually turns darker . The main character is not particularly likeable but serves a particular role in the story - not exactly an innocent abroad but more a bruised alcoholic who is drifting through life .
It is a good read although I did get tired of the moaning of the main character about his drinking . Although the identity of the Ripper is revealed its not that important in the great scheme of things as the story is more to do with what happens when people do or do not act in a certain way .
