This CD is released by Chris Rea's own Jazzee Blue label, which he founded when trying to publish his first after-illness work "Dancing down the stony road", and his old label refused to publish it thinking it was way too far from preceeding Rea's music. In this wonderful CD Chris Rea has gathered together five french jazz guitarists who beautifully play fine music. Some pieces are jazz standards, some others are Rea's new works, or group's compositions. The recording and musical quality is outstanding, they all play almost "live", few takes, no overdubs. Unfortunately the name of the five guitarists is not credited (though the booklet is rich of photos and informations) as well as the names of the bass player and the drummer who complete the band (this is very strange). But if we read the tracklist on the back cover we see the names of who has arranged the pieces, so I think these are the musicians who played and recorded the CD. As for the track list, it is clearly wrong: the tracks are not in the order they should be (for example the 1st track is not Take The Mingus Train but Take The A Train, What Became Of You is not the 2nd track but the 6th one, and so on for other tracks; this is disappointing, I don't know all the pieces so I cannot know which is actually played when I listen to this CD). Anyway this is a very recommendable CD, and really worth buying.
