Not what you expect, but not bad,

This review is from: Alexander: The Warrior Saint [DVD] (DVD)
As with many films from Eastern Europe the packaging hardly reflects the film itself. The cover images for this DVD conjures up images of mass set piece battles and huge towering castles etc. That isn't what you get at all. Upon feeling slightly cheated within 20 mins of the film's beginning, you might be tempted to give up.
Actually this isn't a bad film at all. The music is at times irritating and intrusive and the production feels cheap, but in terms of plot it's quite good. Once you settle in and accept the film's shortcomings, the narrative has enough twists and turns to hold your attention. I found myself quite enjoying it as it went on. The film though is definitely more politics and intrigue than action, blood and guts.
Being aware of this will determine whether you enjoy this or not. For less than £3 (March 2013)this is a decent watch - just know what to expect.
