5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Phone, 26 July 2012

Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Nokia Lumia 610 Sim Free Mobile Phone - Black (Electronics)
I have used it for a week now and despite my fear about it being a windows phone, it is working pretty well. The overall feel of the phone is very robust and the user interface is very friendly. The in built microphone/ speaker is also very good. Its got plenty of features for anyone's customised requirements. Reception and clarity of calls is also very good. I just wished they would have included HD video recording also in this model, but they moved the HD bit to 710 which is about £50 expensive. I cannot comment much on the battery life though but it seems good on the face of it.

I can surely recommend this phone as a worth product to buy.

Out of interest, why did you have fears 'because it is a Windows Phone'?

Hi

Without going into technical details and just to keep it simple I can only say that its more of a personal taste for me. I am a fan of linux and unix-like OS'es. May be because I use only unix/linux style OS everytime and Windows is sparingly used and less trusted from my side for reliability and robustness. Also I never like the windows OS'es polite-message to us that "I am the commander and you need to abide". I rather like linux's style of polite-messaging "You are the commander and I will abide" ...

Although windows message to the audience does promote ease and reliability, but may be I do not like that style ...

and yes I have to admit that Windows Phone 7.5 isnt that bad so far ... and getting inspired by that I also installed windows-7 on a separate partition on my desktop also and I have to again admit it is not that bad indeed, but still debian-OS is preferred for me or any other linux-variant ...

My preference was always for an iphone but again its just too expensive for me and personally I wanted to give windows a try and to be frank I do not regret it yet.

Android by google is a linux based OS and IOS by apple is a unix operating system and they are surely better. But when I say better it does not mean that current windows phone 7.5 is bad. It just means its not yet quite there ... (again skipping technical details here).

In all it is a good phone mate ...

Fair enough, I appreciate that it's due to different tastes, I just thought you'd heard bad things about WP7 (but in reality it has the highest customer satisfaction rate of all the mobile OS). Microsoft are in the midst of a huge shake up, and Windows 8 is going to be a massive change from Windows 7 - I understand it's not for everyone, but maybe it might be to your taste.

Anyway, good review.
