This book brilliantly depicts the passions and thoughts of any traditional artist. You don't have to be a musician, or a traditional Irish music fan, to get a lot from this book. It is semi-autobiographical and the writer is a well known traditional musician as well as an award winning poet. With such experiences and skills, Carson clearly relates the thought-process that goes on in the head of any artist--but especially those who improvise music and play with words, and who have a wide range of connections through their art form. The language is wonderfully written. I couldn't put the book down once I started it.
