The Best of The Capitol Years, Nancy Wilson...
You leave me breathless
Teach me tonight
A lot of living to do
There will never be another you
What a little moonlight can do
The very thought of you
Make someone happy
Like someone in love
Try a little tenderness
Quiet nights of quiet stars
Your name is love
The days of wine and roses
The boy from Ipanema
As you desire me
I'm all smiles
Close your eyes
Back in your own backyard
This 1992 compilation produced by Alan Dell highlights recordings from 1960 to 1967 with a number if backings with the Capitol factor in common.
The tracks with George Shearing are a delight. Billy May is on hand to provided some serious big backings. Sid Feller, Milt Raskin, Oliver Nelson and Jimmy Jones contribute plenty too.
The 23 tracks make this one of the bigger compilations of the series and most welcome it is as it presents a musical showcase of a singer we do not hear enough of today.
Alan Dell provides the liner notes and this is an essential CD to add to the collection. You can still find this and if you shop around a copy can be yours for a very reasonable price. It won't be n your shelf much as once played it has to be heard again.
