This review is from: How To Eat Fried Worms (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
I was hoping to use the feedback from my eight year old daughter to review this book, but whilst she loves reading and gets through a surprising number of books for a girl her age she didn’t seem over impressed with this one and soon gave up on it. Because of this and because of the need to provide a review for Amazon I read it myself. This didn’t turn out to be much of a chore because, although it isn’t really aimed at a reader aged 54, I quite enjoyed it. The story, about a bet involving eating worms, is fun and because eating worms is the sort of gross thing that kids seem to enjoy, along with bodily functions and emissions, I would imagine most kids would lap up. It would have thought that it would suit my daughters taste too so I can only assume that she identified it has being more of a boys book than a girls book (the main characters are all male apart from the mums and they probably don’t count).
If I were to quibble about one thing with this book it is the flash on the front cover that states “FOR DAVID WALLIAMS FANS”. I’m not convinced that it is really fair to encourage sales of a book in this fashion. I would not expect to buy a pound of sausages that bore a sticker that states “FOR BACON FANS” or a packer of cashew nuts that had a sticker on stating “FOR FANS OF SALTED PEANUTS”. Perhaps I am just being picky.
