I never really got to see much of Keaton when |i was a kid. It was hooray for harold lloyd on at tea time, and the odd chaplin et al. I think Keaton stands as the freshest and most enjoyable from that time.I never laugh out loud at 20's comics but I did with Love Nest. It is also probably the best value set, with all his major works from his golden period within, and there is real enjoyment too,so i reckon he just edges Chaplin, with the added caveat that today's audience can enjoy him as well.
