I bought this book before the film was released as I prefer to read the story before seeing a directors' take on it. I really enjoyed the coming of age aspect and it gripped me in the same way as the first time I read Jeffrey Eugenides The Virgin Suicides. It takes you back to those awkward adolescent days when you just want to be accepted for who you are, even though you don't know who that is yet.
