Ok, if you want a quick holiday book to read by the pool then go a head and grab this one. It's raunchy and naughty with a bit of death and dispear, very easy to read and very addictive too.
However, that's all it has to offer. Descriptions are weak, sex scenes are brutally written and have no real flow. Miss Benson seams to have conflicts of interests, not wanting to spill the beans as something that she says is vulgar but then goes on to describe a sex scene?! Really?! This is out of character!
The language that is used is of the modern ilk, fine for a quick read but when the characters themselves are talking like its 2012 you suddenly forget that is is set in Victorian times, and all that reminds you is some shoddy insert about what the character is wearing!
This book is just another bargain basement cheap thrill that you can pick up in your local supermarket, no doubt on a three for two deal.
Granted I am not a linguistic scholar so I shall say, if you want that pool side read then go ahead and if you are looking for merit go elsewhere!
But that's just my opinion. Sorry.
