Death on holiday,

This review is from: The Little Victim (Country House Crime Book 4) (Kindle Edition)
Major Hugh Payne and Antonia Darcy are invited to stay in Goa at a luxurious villa where the most difficult decision they're likely to have to make is which cocktail to order next. But when a mysterious Englishman insists on telling Antonia about a murder he has witnessed and hands her his eye witness account, Antonia feels she needs to find out what is going on. Especially when her informant disappears and is later found dead following a street accident.
The atmosphere of Goa is vividly evoked and the characters are well drawn. Roman Songhera, the host of the house party, is a mystery unto himself and Hugh and Antonia are suspicious of him from the start because it is his English girlfriend who has apparently been murdered. Marigold `Ria' Leighton is a glamorous high class call girl and the despair of her father who was a judge and consequently disapproves of her way of life.
The mystery of who actually murdered Ria and why exercises the combined talents of Hugh and Antonia and stops them sinking into lethargy under the influence of the heat and alcohol. I didn't manage to work out who had committed the crime though it is obvious when the whole thing is explained. I enjoyed reading it and found the characters eccentric and interesting. I recommend this series to anyone who likes their crime stories in the classic mould but with an added ingredient of surrealism.
