Get Colin McRae 2005 Instead,
This review is from: WRC Rally Evolved (PS2) (Video Game)
The title of the review will sum up my thoughts on this game.
Basically, the mechanics of the game, the graphics and the sound are all on par with Colin McRae 2005 and based on this alone it is difficult to pick a winner between them. However, the shockingly short rallies let this one down - don't be fooled by the fact there are 16 rallies, as each one has just 3 courses. I flew through my first championship in about 4 hours and there was little incentive to do it again. I tried the Historic Challenge to lengthen the game but found it ridiculous - even on the bronze level stages the time limits were borderline impossible to achieve.
So all in all the longevity of this game lets it down as I was all done in 5 hours. Colin McRae has a longer championship to master and of course the new career mode which puts it several paces in front of its rival.
One final point - don't be fooled by the cover sucking you in with promises of cars on fire on the tracks and such luck - these "obstacles" are no better than trees stopping you dead without any movement to them whatsoever, and the spectators will run when you get close but the novelty of that wears off too.
