Fantastic Gritty Tale,
This review is from: Help Me Rhonda (Paperback)
Alan Kelly tells a story of an underworld of life that most of us are glad we have never had to experience. It is written in the style of a Coatbridge man telling a story in the dark recesses of town, that society doesn't like to acknowledge exists.
The book is a gritty, graphic, harsh and a stark story of a man who lives in the depths of an alcoholic binging existence. The graphic nature in which he describes the feelings and thoughts makes Sonny Jim (main character) burst out of the pages and the people and places are described with descriptive language that leaves you heaving with laughter and sometimes frozen in shock.
This book gives a glimpse of another world that gives emotions, humanity, feelings and passion to people living in the lowest depths of existence, a class of people who are normally never heard.
This book should be placed on the reading list for all undergraduates studying Law and Social Science.
