I have read many books on this topic and will probably read many more - but this one is quite different from the rest. It is non-technical and easy going, it is well written, engaging and challenges the myth that autistic people are soulless robots that lack empathy and insight. The most interesting parts for me were the bits that challenged my stereotypical and over generalised views such as - visual timetables -these are not always as helpful as they may seem (NAS please take note!). I like the way that he describes being inside a body that does not always do what he wants it to and finally his message 'please do not give up on us!' even when making demands may illicit challenging behaviour. well worth a read!
