Cheap AND Beautiful,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Cheapness & Beauty (Audio CD)
This album is amazing I had it on cassette when it was originally released and played it a lot, but since having it on CD it has been played over and over again from the Bowie/ Iggy Pop opener with Funtime you realise this is George breaking out of the box and has a hard rock vibe. Favourite tracks If I Could Fly and Il Adore which are classic Boy George heartbreakers, but title track Cheapness and Beauty and Evil Is So Civilised are cracking rock songs. I wish he would record more often

"If I could fly" and "Il adore" are sublime, this is such a peculiar album, loud and serene, fun and contemplative, raw and sensitive, probably Boy's most personal, and surely my favourite of his. Writing a few words about it after all those years proves that it holds a special place inside you, right? Totally feel you.

Thanks mate, George is an icon for a reason, that beautiful voice. I think people want him as the sweet innocent George he originally presented, people should be allowed to grow up musically and this album shows what he can do if we let him or even if we buy his records.
