Upon receiving this book I looked at the contents page and headed straight for chapter seven entitled: Humanity on a Strict Diet.

Pulling apart the arguments of ascetic directions with ease and wit Bruckner takes the environmental argument from current energy crises to everything wrong with society since the Industrial revolution. He explodes the myths and the day dreams. Just like his expert analysis on the subject of marriage Has Marriage for Love Failed?, he echoes my own thoughts on the idea of 'the environment.'

I was watching a David Attenborough Planet Earth episode the other day and was stuck by just how vast this planet is. Plenty of room for everyone. Many times over. Only rich people moan about population increase. Its as though they want war. Attenborough being one such example. Another TV programme called 'Don't Panic - The Truth About Population' a graphic lecture by Professor Hans Rosling convinced me that this planet's maximum population will be about 11 billion. Easily sustained the Professor states.

I am reading The Fanaticism of the Apocalypse with great interest. Interesting to read as well as interesting to learn.
