Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Wacom CTL-480/S1-BX Intuos Pen Graphics Tablet - Black (Accessory)
I'm really happy with this. I was a little worried it might not work as I'm still running XP, but after looking on Wacom's website I saw what I thought were the right drivers for my operating system. They are the right ones and I've had no trouble whatsoever in installing this on my system, why they failed to include them on the supplied disc is puzzling(though the reason might be due to Microsoft dropping all support and security updates for XP this April, in an aim to boost their falling sales of windows 7 and 8 by forcing people to upgrade. This could also mean a new printer, scanner etc due to incompatibility issues with the newer operating systems and a new PC capable of running the newer OS without grinding to a halt. Another big thumbs down for MS).
I had previously been given a "Trust" tablet by a friend which I hated from the start. It had a hard shiny surface like very old mouse mats and a big chunky pen that felt like a kids jumbo Biro when held with utterly awful buttons on it.
Thankfully the Wacom Intuos is nothing like the trust tablet. The surface gives a satisfying level of friction against the pen nib and really does feel akin to traditional pen and paper. The pen itself is thin and light, very comfortable to hold and use, with very responsive and easy to use buttons.
I've set this up with a very high sensitivity by reducing the tablet area in the properties menu and it is everything that I hoped it would be when using it in "Blender" for sculpting.
It's worth nothing that the Blender community used to recommend the Wacom Bamboo but that this, the standard Intuos, is now what the Bamboo used to be due to Wacom renaming its products. The Bamboo that is now on the market does not feature pressure sensitivity as far as I am aware. So just make sure you are getting what you need and not going off old information or recommendations as you may be disappointed by the current Bamboo Tablet.
I would recommend this all day every day as a perfect entry level tablet and a great piece of hardware in it own right!
