I really love Lorraine on the BBC, which funny enough is why I brought the book. She is so laid back which is exactly my style in the kitchen. However honestly there are too many random pictures of her in the book, and not enough of the finished recipes (it wouldn't be so bad if they were pictures of her, WITH the finished product, but other than the front cover they are all random model type of shots). It's almost a little like she didn't have time to make most of the recipes, so the publisher decided to fill the pages with a selection of her food portfolio photos unrelated . Odd.
Example: she details a 3 tiered complicated sounding cake (I suspect would look like a wedding cake?), which spans 4 pages of the book (longest recipe in there), and you guessed it, the picture is a full page of her smiling while she whisks flour in a bowl, completely ridiculous. I know I'm labouring the point, but the best cooking books in my opinion are those with at least a semi visual guide as to how things should be turning out.
Everything else is lovely, the font is fantastic, and its nicely coloured. Well worth the fiver I paid, just not sure how much use it will get!
