A difficult book to read on some levels, a child's death is not what one would really regard as entertainment and in fact I did think that it was handled quite coldly. Having said that (and it wasn't in any way offensive) Bryant dealt with it the way that he deals with all death, a crime that must be solved, a puzzle that must be unwound. it was gripping, of course it was fascinating with facts that one would probably never have come across anywhere else unless Punch and Judy shows or White Witchery are amongst your interest. The ending was as always both satisfying and really as I move through the series and am now one nearer to the end rather sad. I have loved these books.
