'Bravo' as Thomas Flashman might have said after reading the latest instalment from Robert Brightwell. Or maybe not as I think Thomas might have had his hands too full with other matters to pick up a book! This novel fairly races along as the Author shows him no mercy and throws his anti hero into historical scrapes, both on the battlefield and in the bedroom. He seems to be stabbing somebody with a 'weapon' constantly as he falls in and out of trouble. The safest place to be when Thomas is around is as far from him as possible. This is fast, furious, well written and commands your attention throughout. Insites into historical figures of the early 1800's are enlightening and amusing (and probably libalous if they were alive). All of this within a novel which doesn't take itself too seriously whilst giving me the biggest 'belly laugh' I've had in ages with a brillaint one liner from Thomas himself. Flashmans future is Bright(well) and GMF must be smiling down on Robert. Another one soon please!
