This is a beautifully crafted tale of life, love, and all that comes between.
In comparison to the later Adriana Trigiani books (e.g, Lucia Lucia), this one is a slower burning story which doesn't reveal itself immediately, but leaves you wanting to desperately read the sequel.
Ave Maria's is a normal, down-to-earth woman, who discovers that her life is not all as it seems. She is not who she thinks she is, and she goes in search of answers.
The real appeal to this story is the quirkiness of the characters, and how we all know people who are just like them.
It's feel-good stuff, with more than a pinch of heartwarming, and a little bit of joy too.
