The people's cookbook,
This review is from: Food Glorious Food: From Cakes to Curries to Cornish Pasties - Favourite Dishes from the Search for Britain's Best Recipe (Cookery) (Hardcover)
This is a colourful eclectic mix of recipes from real people around the country. It has a very friendly layout with pictures and back stories of the contestants from the linked TV show and the recipes range from a staple Apple Pie to the more unusual Chicken fillets with peaches in Cornflakes. I wanted to make something I hadn't cooked before so tried the South African dish Bobotie with Turmeric Rice and it was absolutely delicious and easy to make (always a plus point for me). I also made the Devon Apple Cider Cake which was enormous and made in a roasting tin - luckily I had 10 hungry volunteers to eat it (we had it hot with custard) and there's still some left over. The book definitely has the feel of a treasure trove of passed down family favourites with influences from all over the world, which I can see myself using over and over again. Love it.
