Customer Review

Yes ok, this is not the best series of Doctor Who but it is certainly not the worst. I'll talk about the negatives first. Firstly, there's the fact that we lost out on any two-parters, which i know was because Moffat wanted 'Movie of the Week' styled episodes, but the vast content of ideas behind the episodes, required at the very least hour long episodes, instead of 45 minutes. Episodes like 'Asylum of the Daleks' 'The Power of three', 'Cold War', Hide and 'The Name of the Doctor would've benefited from a longer running time. Although with that said the episodes were still enjoyable and the Name of the doctor is my favourite of series 7 and of Matt Smith's era. Secondly the series was a bit inconsistent but nonetheless was still ultimately successful in what it set out to do. Thirdly, the Clara mystery. Now don't get me wrong it started off really well, first of all with her surprise appearence and death in Asylum of the Daleks and then again in The Snowmen (which was otherwise completely overated). However after that not much was done with the mystery until the name of the doctor. Now with the positives. The production values for this serjes were incredible and every episode looked fantastic. Amy and Rory's exit was handled better than expected a d actually if you really really think about it, there aren't any plot holes in the angels take manhattan. Also, we got Mark Gatiss who wrote his two best episodes for Doctor Who- Cold War and The Crimson Horror were real highlights of this series and are wonderful to watch. And it seems Steven Moffat is slowly returning to his high quality of writing after his dip with Let's Kill Hitler and The Wedding of River Song last series and Asylum of the Daleks this series. From The Angels take Manhattan onwards though all we got were sublime episodes and some glorious set up in the name of the doctor for the 50th anniversary in what looks to be a phenomenal episode. So, all in all not a perfect series but still an enjoyable one. For some reason even with the flaws that this series has I just can't help but enjoy it a lot. Top 6 episodes- The Name of the Doctor, The Angels take Manhattan, The Crimson Horror, Dinosaurs on Spaceship and Cold War and the Bells of st John.
