I got this book as part of research in to a novel I am writing. I found it an interesting read - even if I was shocked by the depth this very short introduction goes in to!
I am a fan of the Very Short... titles and whilst I was prepared for this to be an academic and accomplished title (as they all seem to be) I did find myself reaching for a dictionary every so often as I was left a little flummoxed by some of the scientific jargon. It does try to ease you in to it... a little... and I can't imagine very many people with enough of a casual and passing interest to really want to pick up a book about bacteria.
So, rambling aside, this is a well-formatted, well-edited and informationally-dense little title that certainly gave me enough depth as a layman to feel more knowledgeable around this obviously complex topic.
