beautiful, sensitive, provoking, masterpiece........,
This review is from: Kno: Death Is Silent (Audio CD)
four words you don't normally hear when describing a Hip Hop album but all of which apply to this release.
Cunninlynguists producer Kno's 1st solo album where he handles production duties and picks up the mic once again. As you can probably tell from the title the album the subject matter here is death but not only that life aswell. the whole subject is handled with a sensitivity unfortunately missing from a musical genre weighed down by the usual topics of guns, drugs and money.
I'm sure if your reading this you'll know Cunninlynguists and so I don't need to explain that the production levels are of the highest quality. If you don't know Cunninlynguists then I suggest you look up their releases and work your way up to this. Kno creates haunting soundscapes with pianos, synths and guitars with his signature vocal samples. The production here is most like Dirty Acres of all the CL releases and is better than the beats on Strange Journey 1/2.
Lyrically Kno is good also and is arguebly the most all round hip hop artist around. Natti and Deacon appear on here for CL fans as well as long term collaborater Tonedeff.
This is a must have for not just Hip Hop fans but fans of music. With 2 months left till 2011 this will probably be album of the year.
