the following is taken directly from the back of the book
when an experimental serum for hypothermia goes horribly wrong, a small research station in the middle of antarctica becomes overrun with an army of the frozen dead.
now a small group of survivors must battle the arctic weather and a horde of frozen zombies as they make their way across the frozen plains of antarctica to a neighbouring research station.
what they don,t realise is that they are being hunted by an entity whose sole reason for existing is vengeance, and it will find them wherever they run.
ok, now for my review
i have given this book 5 stars, because it is yet another excellant zombie novel by anthony giangregorio, author of the excellant and popular deadwater series. having said that, i do have a few nit picks.
the zombies in this book are literally frozen solid, leading to the conclusion that technically, they shouldn,t even be able to walk, never mind pose a threat, and if they did, their limbs would shatter. of course, in a book about zombies, which don,t exist anyway, this is just nit picking on my part.
the so called entity mentioned on the back of the book is nothing of the kind, its simply another zombie, which for some reason has maintained more of its intelligence than the others, and is out for revenge on the man who left him to die.
one last thing i should mention is this, why is the author so obsessed with dreams? i lost count of how many times a character fell asleep, only for their dream to be told to us. since the dreams didn,t really add anything to the story, but instead just held it up, i got tired of it after a while.
despite my few gripes, this is another excellant zombie novel by the author, especially since it takes a different approach to how the zombies are reanimated, and also sets the action in an isolated place, which makes it even more terrifying. if you like the authors other work, you will love this
