Hurray for the Heartland!,
This review is from: Heartland: The Cookbook (Hardcover)
Southern cooking tends to get all the attention in cookbooks when it comes to American cooking. Although it is well deserved, the US is a mighty big place and other regions deserve a mention, too. That's why I am excited to see a book about the middle of the US. After all, this is the farm belt and a lot of noteworthy cooking goes on in the farm kitchens.
Judith Fertig has done an outstanding job of assembling gorgeous photos and recipes from the Midwest that give you a picture and a taste of the heartland. Whether you are an armchair traveler or a curious cook, your curiosity about the Midwest will be satisfied with the comprehensive Heartland. It is one of the finest US regional cookbooks to date.
