I'm no expert on bikes but I have been riding a Mountin bike for about eight years and just fancied a change. I will keep the Mountain bike for rough work but I decided that my next bike would be a Touring bike.
I bought the bike ready built and started to ride only days ago but for me (a novice pleasure rider with limited experience on this particular bike) it has proved fantastic value for money. Most of the Touring bikes I have looked at have been priced at between £700 and £1200. There is no way I could afford to pay that sort of money for a bike and went (with fingers crossed) for a budgert model. So far, even though it is early days, I really love the bike. The gears are indexed and click into place as they should, it feels faster and easier to ride than the Mountain bike on road, the ride feels comfortable and I have the rack for some light luggage rather than use a rucksack. The bike also looks good in its British Racing green and came with toe clips which I have removed because I tend to ride in traffic but they are available to me for the longer ride with less stopping and starting and they are easy to replace.
I would recommend this bike to anyone, like me, that wants a basic but decent Touring bike but does not want to pay the earth.
