Most of these internet based IP cameras have an on board web server which allows the user to connect directly to the camera on either from within the home network or via the internet. This camera is different and forces the user to connect via the Belkin website where the user must open an account. This makes it more simple to get the cameras up and running and make it easier to see their output but it does mean that if Belkin turn their servers off or decide to charge for access then the camera owner is left out in the cold.
That is not necessarily a reason not to buy this camera but it should be borne in mind and I suspect most experienced IP cam users would choose to walk away.
On a positive note, the picture and sound quality is good as is the build quality of the device itself. Set up is easy and can be done directly from an iPhone or Android phone and using the camera is simple and straightforward.
If you want a simple but good quality home viewing camera with an orientation toward monitoring from a mobile phone then this would be a good buy. If you want a long term camera for serious security work then keep on looking.
