Concert performances often garner 5 star reviews. Recently I have witnessed such from Barb (and from Van Morrison and Paul Carrack) but what Barb does, that others do not, is capture the electricity of the live performance on the studio recording. Stunning live in concert in Manchester last month and matched on the Hard Rain CD here. And more, as these are not covers but reinterpretations which, as Sandra says in another review, bring something new to the listener even, perhaps particularly, on old standards such as Blowing In the Wind, which I heard anew here and that is rarely the case with other performers of that song. For me, being more familiar with Dylan than Cohen, the Dylan songs worked better initially.....but that might change with repeat plays. Barb has some claim to be the leading current interpreter of Dylan's work. I have seen Bob and Van together on stage singing Dylan. At the end of last year Bob and Barb were both in Blackpool on the same night. Now that would have been some duet.
