This review is from: The McKinsey Mind - Understanding and Implementing the Problem-Solving Tools and Management Techniques of the World's Top Strategic Consulting Firm (Hardcover)
Anyone looking for anything particularly insightful will be disappointed. There's a number of flaws in the book, not the least, for a book this size there was a paucity of meaty case studies/analysis.
The page on breaking a problem down in a problem tree was good... in the way that you knew it already, but may have forgotten it and it's good to have a refresher. I also liked the MECE (Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive), as a good way to treat analysis.
TBH though, these could be covered in 15 pages in a handout. The rest of the content in the book is largely dilutive.
Probably would be new and useful to a student, or else maybe a new-starter in a company just out of college. Anyone else, this falls into the "skim increasingly rapidly, gather nuggets (2), and then feel vaguely disappointed".
