The dash mount comes complete with cradle and in-car charger for the C3 series Garmin GPS sat nav. The idea behind the mount itself is that it is held firm to the car dashboard simply by the force of gravity (and friction) owing to the sheer weight of the base and, to a lesser extent, of its three, adjustable legs. I was very sceptical about this. However, I have tried the mount on a number of journeys and in various driving conditions and am pleased to report that it did not move so much as a centimetre out of place. In short, the mount allows the StreetPilot to be positioned on the dashboard without using any glue, adhesive, suction pads or fixings of any description. As such, it is entirely portable and leaves no tell tale signs of its presence once removed from view. It is, therefore, the faultless option if you do not wish to use the windscreen suction cup or the adhesive disc that usually come with the sat nav unit.
