"The Time Travellers Wife" is such an interesting concept for a story. I'm not really a fan of science fiction type books, but this stands out as an amazing book. It can get a little confusing as it goes back & forth date wise, so it's always useful to go back to the previous chapter to see how old they were then! You follow the time traveller of the story (Henry) through his turbulent life where he frequently jumps back and forth in time. Claire meets him when he is an adult & she is a child. He is present for most of her childhood and through her teenage years. She then meets him again when she is older, and he is exactly the same as she remembers him from her childhood... in fact he is the same age as he was then! It get extremely confusing at times, while he is time travelling his body disappears from the present and goes to the past or the future, where he encounters himself at various ages! Parts of the book are very funny (the wedding) and parts are chilling (going back to the scene of his mothers death), and some parts incredibly sad (their struggle to have a child) All in all, it's a very clever book, a little confusing, but one that you won't want to put down! It has such a beautiful love story progressing throughout it, without being too sappy. I've re-read it since, and it's a little easier to understand the second time round. I would recommend it to anyone with an open mind, who wants to experience a very different book. Some may not like it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and looking at the other reviews, so did many others. It's important to remember that it's a work of fiction, so some things are bound to make you think "that wouldn't happen". The beauty of books like this is you can pretend that they do! It's not meant to be realistic, its meant to be enjoyed!
