Unlike Airfix's new Spitfire Mks 1, IX, XIX and XXII, this is not a new tool, just a re-issue with new decals for RAF and USAAF.
That's not a bad thing as this is a nice little kit, albeit with little cockpit detail. It's a simple build and looks right when finished, but the mould is now quite old and some parts, such as the spinner and propeller, have some 'sink marks'.
You would think that a new tool of this Mark is coming soon, and if Airfix's previous releases are any guide, it will be just as cheap and a better kit.
There are other Spit Vs around, but the best of them (Tamiya) is about three times the price of this one. The Revell, Italeri and Hobby Boss models all have something 'not quite right' about them, unfortunately.
