This first volume of the tenth season of 'Bleach' sees the anime return to the proper story following the Captain Amagai filler arc.
After finally defeating Grimmjow and rescuing Orihime, Ichigo has no time to rest as he is almost immediately thrust into another life threatening situation as he encounters the bloodthirsty Espada Nnoitra Gilga and his Fraccion Tesra. Meanwhile Uryû, Renji, Pesche and Dondochakka are unable to escape from Szayelaporro's palace and must now face the Espada scientist's full power. Elsewhere the seventh Espada takes it upon himself to finish off Rukia.
This volume includes eleven episodes of the extremely entertaining 'Bleach' anime and in my opinion this is probably one of the best parts of the series since the Soul Society arc. The episodes here contain some great battles and some reasonable humour. The episodes in the volume also reveal the truth about Nel, Pesche and Dondochakka's past and we get to see just what the three of them are truly capable of. The volume also sees Captain Kurotsuchi prove why he is one of my favourite characters from the series.
The animation and voice acting for the English dub are both as good as usual for the series. Although I haven't watched these episodes in Japanese in their entirety, I have seen some clips and in my view, Nel's voice is handled slightly better in the English version. Both languages are available on the discs of course.
The only real problem with this volume is that there are quite a few spoilers for people who haven't read the original manga. The opening animation has some big spoilers in it and some of the next episode previews are a bit more revealing than they could have been. Even the cover art for the volume is unfortunately a spoiler.
Despite the spoiler issue however this is still a great instalment of the 'Bleach' anime and it is easily worth a full five stars.
