3.0 out of 5 stars Lady Gaga or Lady Madonna...you choose!, 1 Nov. 2011
This review is from: Monster Ball Tour at Madison Square Garden [DVD] [2011] (DVD)
I don't quite know what to say about this show! For me the show does feel like a mish-mash of Madonna's previous tours but not in a good way! Although I think Lady Gaga is extremely talented individual, her show lacks any class and the back staged action looks like a direct rip-off of Madonna's "Truth or Dare" documentary or In Bed With Madonna as in the UK.

Her younger fan's seem to get annoyed by the Madonna comparison but it's always apparent with her. Plus you only have to look at Madonna's past videos, tours, performances etc. All the evidence is there!

This being said, Lady Gaga is a great singer & performer. Her message on the whole is a positive one, though for me sometimes she feels a little forced. But she is a breath of fresh air in the music industry today and not like everyone else.

The dvd is worth a look, and has some really good moments!

I've seen Madonna drowned world,re-invention confessions and sticky and sweet 11 TIMES IN ALL.In my opinion Ga Ga takes it up a gear I've seen the fame ball and monster ball both excellent she has a way better voice maybe not as good moves but she is a way better musician piano player acapella superb and also she has the crowd in her hand witty funny and really shows her personality something Madonna has never been good at and I'm not a younger Ga Ga fan.I also was'nt so crazy about born this way but this dvd is a must and no one should be slating it before it's even released...

We walked out before the end of the show as the sets (if you can call them that) didnt work! Half of the people who are critiquing this DVD havnt even seen a Madonna tour, the fact that they havnt speaks volumes!! Monsterball was just another artists stab at trying to be Madonna, even GaGa's creative director recently admitted that she created her in Madonna's image! The bonus stuff on the DVD is also shot exactly like Madonna's Truth or Dare documentary... Its that bad! But for every wannabe there is another just waiting in the wings! I have more respect for Kylie and Britney than GaGa or whatever her name is! Madonna is a true Queen if the Stage and has nothing to prove, her statistics on stage blow this amateurish nonsense out of the water! All i can say is some people are to easily pleased. This tour was overhyped rubbish!

I did enjoy parts of the show, I still stand by the fact she is an amazing singer & quite a good performer. Just the show as a whole reminded me of Madonna's older tours, this was before Drowned World, Re-Invention, Confessions & Sticky and Sweet A. Kelly!!!! I am talking about Blonde Ambition & Girlie Show, and I know 200% Gaga has NOT took it up a gear or raised the bar. It's these tours she has ripped direct parts, art direction, staging etc, not to mention the "behind the scenes" crap. I have no problem with Lady Gaga, I personally prefer her to the likes of Britney & Rihanna. That being said, she is not original in the slightest and that's what I get annoyed about. Her little monsters can say whatever they want because it changes nothing, if they perhaps educated themselves about Gaga's influences they would see where she gets ALOT of her idea's from! And FYI, Mr.B.Powley...you know who Britney is, don't be a fool! And kids of today do know who Madonna is, and I can tell you right now Gaga at 53 will not have half the body Madonna has. Makes me laugh how much people hate on Madonna's body, when they are just jealous, plain and simple. Don't be hating on the biggest selling female artist ever now please :)
