30 rock end on a respectable note,
This review is from: 30 Rock: Season 7 [DVD] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC] (DVD)
Given no UK broadcaster has picked this season up and a DVD release is nowhere in sight, only online can a UK viewer watch this season which is a shame. From what I can fathom, NBC wanted to cancel the show after season 6, the cast wanted 7 and 8, so this was a compromise, a rare chance for a 13 episode wrap up. Was it good? Mostly
The season starts off great. 30 rock oddly hasn't had fantastic premiers, but this one is hilarious from start to finish.
However, episode 2 starts a rather pointless 3 episode cycle on 2012 us election which appeared dated when I saw it a couple of months after the election, let alone now [Especially satirising the Tina Fay-Sarah Palin thing]. It seems especially short sighted given the shorter length of the season too.
After this, it picks up again, mostly hitting the mark (Jack vs Kaylie 3) and occasionally missing it (the Kenneth Hazel relationship only features in 2 episodes, although I suspect I'm the only one to complain!). The cameos are rather pointless and fan service (Julianne Moore, Salma Hayek, Mathew Broderick, Megan Mullally and Dean Winters appear for about 2 Minutes each and no sign of jokes) but this is minor. The last episode wraps things up nicely and is a good way to end it.
Not as good as 1-3 but is a great send off for a fantastic show.
