From the eighties you get the brilliant Absolute Beginners and Under Pressure, as well as one of the best Tonight songs and the only three songs on Let's Dance even semi-worthy of a look. However the choice of singles in the 70's is, well, odd. It reads like a worst of. From the excellent Pin Ups we have the worst song on the album, Sorrow. They managed to get four tracks off Ziggy Stardust, but not the best ones (Moonage Daydream, Soul Love), two of Hunky Dory's worse tracks, the two worst Diamond Dogs tracks... presumably the singles released off the albums, and indeed chosen here, are the more commercial songs on these albums, although as we're all aware commercial doesn't necessarily mean better. I would recommend this album anyway, for the tracks that weren't on the albums, or to the casual listener who believes China Girl is amongst Bowie's best work.
